Changes, Children and Cochlear

CHANGES

I changed the name of my blog if you haven’t noticed yet. I’m NOT a chataholic anymore. THANK GOODNESS! I don’t spend hours in front of the computer typing in chatrooms. Life is SO much better without that horrible AOL chatroom in my life.

And I’m not “confessing” …if anything I’m hiding more than I confess. I can’t blog a lot of things about my life because I have to protect my children from certain people who may read my blog and use it to cause trouble. Yes, I have a “Dirty D” in my life. (Only the RHONJ fans will get that statement!)

I tend to ramble and Verbal Diarrhea just seemed an appropriate title for my blog. I don’t always have “cohesive” blogs!

COCHLEAR IMPLANT

I’m still adjusting to the new mapping. The sounds aren’t as clear as I’d like them to be. I can hear the TV from the living room in the bedrooms, even when I turned it waaaaay down. It’s annoying to hear the sound and not be able to distinguish it from “white noise”. People talking sounds more like people talking though and that’s a BIG improvement! But I still think it sounds like people are holding their noses while they talk.

I went to a domino social at the Hearing Loss Association offices. I had a lot of fun getting together with the group. It was nice to talk to people, instead of listening to the TV or a computer. I’m still talking too loud though, at least they thought so.

I was supposed to go to a Cochlear Inc event sponsored by Paula Moore, but that was my daughter’s 18th birthday, and my son was there, and my stomach was giving me trouble again.

CHILDREN

Meagan’s 18th birthday didn’t go as well as she’d hoped, but I think she’s ok now. Charlie and I bought her a new Coach purse (she gets a new one every year, but usually one that’s discounted not full price) and new sandals. Oh, don’t let me forget to mention that I bought her SIX pairs of flip-flops from Old Navy! LOL She was complaining that she needed new ones.

Alan is hoping to get his learner’s permit this summer. He’s been living with his father in Tulsa for the past 5 years. His dad hasn’t been able to afford Driver’s Ed, so Alan couldn’t get his permit at 15 ½. Fortunately, Oklahoma doesn’t REQUIRE Driver’s Ed once you turn 16, so he can get his permit now. All he needs is some paperwork from the school. I told him I’d take him to the Exam Station in Norman as soon as he got the paperwork he needs.

I haven’t always gotten along with my ex-husband, the kids’ father. He is no longer with the girlfriend that caused so many problems for me and the kids over the past 9 years and I hope that things will get better for all of us now. This is a recent change and it isn’t going to be an easy split for him. I feel bad for him because he has been trying to make his life better and now he has to deal with some fallout from the breakup. So, it’s just Alan and his dad now (with the occasional visit from Meagan). I can see them creating a “Man Cave / Bachelor Pad”!

Maybe it’s time to do some FACEBOOK CREEPING? Or just go to bed before I turn into a pumpkin.

Hey, I didn't think you were talking that loud at Dominoes. Easier to hear someone who talks a little louder than someone who whispers!

And I think I know exactly what you mean about "holding your nose" sounding voices. I described it as "little girl sounding cartoonish." With my first CI, it reminded me of cafeteria babble - ie: nothing distinguishable and later on as Mickey Mouse/Donald Duck or the Chipmunks type cartoon voices.
